Terence Tao: Hardest Problems in Mathematics, Physics & the Future of AI | Lex Fridman Podcast #472

數學問題;流體計算機;So there’s precedent. I mean, so the thing about mathematics is that it’s really good at spotting connections between what you think of, what you might think of as completely different problems.;real world vs observations vs mental models;理論數學 vs 實驗數學;由觀察驗證而來的理論,這點與牛頓時代所謂的發現世界法則有所不同,經驗而來的世界觀;see the connections between the fields;hedgehogs vs fox;‣;Change of perspective, travel broadens the mind, this is intellectual travel;數學證明編程,trustless mathematics, distribute system → scale up;The sense of smell,AI 生成難以感知的完美「假氣味」;利於起步的小錯誤——給予心理信心;One thing which is a shame of mathematics is that there’s sort of a one size fits all approach to teaching mathematics. I think many people they don’t find their native math language until very late or usually too late. So they stop doing mathematics, and they have a bad experience with a teacher who’s trying teach them one way to do mathematics. They don’t like it. My theory is that humans don’t come, evolution has not given us a math center of brain directly. We have a vision center and a language center and some other centers which evolution has honed, but we don’t have innate sense of mathematics. But our other centers are sophisticated enough that different people, we can repurpose our other areas of our brain to do mathematics.;如果只教計算機科學理論那樣教編程,那麼編程就會與數學一樣難學,反過來說如果能像編程那樣學數學,也許會很有趣
